The Western District Historic Vehicle Club (WDHVC) is not a car club, but a vehicle club catering for historic and special interest vehicles of all types and ages.

The club was formed in 1967 with a motto of “Enthusiasm, for Enthusiasm’s Sake”. In the first year 136 members joined the club and a number of those original members are still active within the club

Today the club meets at rooms located at the Geelong Showgrounds Complex.
The building has been modified over the years and now provides a comfortable atmosphere due to the hard work by club volunteers. The club has extended the original building and added a number of restored vehicle related artifacts that are on display. In addition the clubrooms now have extra toilet facilities, a stage, projection equipment, heating, a security system and a hearing loop.

Club activities are frequent and varied to satisfy all interests. Regular weekend runs and rallies are supplemented with visits to the McKellar Centre, Alan David Lodge and a number of aged care facilities. The club attends local town festivals and fairs, by providing vehicle displays and also attends major City of Geelong events such as the Festival of Sails and Gala Day. The club also involves all family members by running events to interest children and a monthly Craft Night is held in the Clubrooms.

Joining the club does not mean you need and old car. That a person has an interest in the motoring industry or just wants to enjoy the social aspects of the club is often enough. Many members attend events using modern cars and this leads to the start of many friendships that develop through identifying other interests. To some, just being involved with providing enjoyment to the many organizations the club assists is enough.

The club’s major event is the Bay City Swap which is held at the showgrounds in May each year. The meet offers a variety of stalls catering for all interests with the majority being vehicle related.

The club has now grown to a size that has forced us to cap the membership to a manageable size, with this in mind, we cannot accept any new members at this time. We are only accepting names to be put on a waiting list that will be reviewed. .
